Do Apps have to be linked to a website or can they act as a stand alone tool?

    Thanks

Can be standalone. Incredibly vague question.

There's a Mobile Application forum where you might get more answers to any other questions you have.

An application is just software, like any other programme on your PC.

Think about the standard apps that come with a phone — Calculator, Calendar, Stopwatch, Alarm Clock, Phone Book. Even the ones that are data-driven don't need to be linked to a site if you can get that information someplace else, e.g. Maps (location from GPS and the map data itself stored on the phone), Radio/Media Player, Camera, etc.
