On 12th August I decided to look at buying a Saorview approved television from a well known national retailer and to compare features produced a spreadsheet.
I waited to see if better offers might appear and today 20th September revisited my spreadsheet. I noticed that two of the tvs I had listed are now dearer than they were in August - both LG 26 inch.
LG 26LS3500 gone from €332.96 to €351.54 and
    LG 26Cs460 gone from €269.95 to €279.95.

The third tv I had listed appears to have been dropped.

Has anyone else noticed price increases?

TV prices have been falling steadily in the UK/NI for quite a while now, so I'd shop elsewhere if your local prices are rising.

Prices do fluctuate but I would certainly be asking them to match the previous low price and walking away if they didn't.

I find the 32in models are selling in such numbers that they are often cheaper than smaller screens. Have a look at the 32in equivalents on Amazon.

    LG 32Cs460
    LG 32LS3500

be careful with amazon those tv's may not pick up saorview here!! and as ever people will try it on, supply and demand. Is it illegal to raise the prices?

    I am waiting and waiting.

Yeah if buying from Amazon, always check with the Saorview site to see if its an approved set before you order.

im amazed at how much prices of tvs have dropped in ireland. its the first time i can remember tvs being cheaper in donegal than in derry.

also shops often put prices of stuff up just so they can offer special offers in the future. (theres a chain in ireland whos sell their entire xmas decoration stock at 50% off )

OP, why don't you tell us who this "national retailer" is?

Those particular ones are approved and are simply bigger versions of the TVs the OP is already considering (only you get 50% more screen for your money).

@ sesswhat Thanks for the links. My research will now include Amazon as it looks like my budget can stretch to a 32" there.

    @ bmaxi Power City.

I wouldn't consider price increases in Power City to be indicative of a general trend. Power City prices are notoriously fickle, it's part of their strategy and they will often promote loss leaders.

The Euro has been falling recently. Perhaps this is the reason for price rises.

You mean the one that started about 1980 is over? :)
