Spinners with one hook

Want to do a bit of spinning for trout on the Boyne but am aware of the rules regarding treble hooks etc. So I want to use a spinner with a single barbless hook. Has anyone tried adapting mepps or tazzies for this and is the action still ok?

I still use all of my old Mepps spinners for pike & perch albeit I've clipped off two hooks & filed the remaining barb smooth - still works a treat for me & doesn't appear to be any loss of presentation
