We are using a Walkera combi box and an old Panasonic CRT.

There is a buzzing sound from the TV, most notably when you turn on the gui interface like checking the epg for example. It's connected to the TV via scart - Is this the issue?

    Thanks

swop the scart lead and make sure it is seated properly ie snugly at both ends. also switch off tv and box before you make the switch. then report back

Is there a volume control on the box, which is seperate to the volume control on the TV? Make sure the volume is turned fully up using th Walker remote. Then adjust to the correct volume using the TV remote. Is the humming gone?

Yeah that's done the trick...do you think it will work when I get a HDMI tv?

Yes. Normally every box sends the sound over HDMI.

The sound is caused by the TV being on a high volume, but with the sound connected to it being very low. By turning up the sound on the box high and turning down the sound on the TV low you do no hear the hiss.

So basically the hiss is always there but by adjusting the audio settings you do not hear it. It's similar to the hum from church amplifiers when no-one is talking. There is always some hiss from amplifiers but you do not hear it when there is loud sounds.
