Im constantly coming across the entry level free to air boxes on the road, just like the comtell model that came in the cheap package,

Is there a way of flashing the eprom on these (if it is an eprom that holds the memory) using a laptop through the com port?

    any ideas?

The r232 port is for flashing new firmware to the box.

Commtel. Best of luck tracking down the OEM. They are a brand name badged for the UK. AFAIK its Strong that make them.
