As per title. just got a quote for a custom remap from them. Has anyone used them before. It seems he/she calls out to you and does it there and then?

Also whats an average price for this service.

Oh was also looking at autoremap.com. Cheaper but quite a bit away..

    All input appreciated.

Can't see it being much of a "custom" remap without a dyno to test it on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭supersparkz

I thought that myself alright. Would just be a generic remap i would say.

    +1 to the above.

No point getting it remapped, without the dyno run.

    Has anyone used autoremap.com

I tried chippedeire but recieved no reply through email. Any thoughts on either?

ChippedIre would be the best IMO, Joe is probably the best in Ireland and the UK at what he does. He's been away for a few weeks so try calling him on the number on the website.

    Have no experience with Autoremap.

As a matter of interest what is the car?

Defo +1 for Joe from me.

He did my car last year, and Gary's the right man to get in touch with Joe. They've a very loving hate/hate relationship.

More loving than hating, or so I hear. I've even seen them spend an evening with a Trannie.

    :D

Joe's the man to map a VW alright.

Any update on how the car feels after the remap? I have the same Passat and toying with the idea for a while. 2005 130kms original clutch.

    Get it done.

I've a 06 Octavia. Had it done a year ago when the car had 156,000 on it, with original clutch/ flywheel. Now has 180,000 on it. Still original clutch/ flywheel. Power brought from 105 to 155. Torque from 189 to 254 ft/lb.

But apart from all that, the power is delivered much more smoothly, and all the way through the revs. Not just in one lump.

How come the remap is so much better in terms of power delivery compared to stock? Why can't the manufacturers do the power delivery like that stock. I'm not talking about the output but the better map. Surely all things being equal building a new car they could make it better or is there other reasons behind it?

When a manufacturer builds an engine, the engine needs to run on fuel in every market that the vehicle is sold in, which more often than not is not just in the UK or Europe. In the UK we have much better quality fuel than many countries and so with a remap, it is possible to capitalise on some of the unnecessary margins built in by the manufacturer. Also, manufacturers have to build engines that can work in many climes, some much more extreme than our own. The engine has to output the same power whether the ambient temperature is -40° or +40°. The manufacturer will always "play safe" and cater for every eventuality in the standard map which leaves room for improvement.

I have seen this before (as well as excellent things about that comoany) but the power delivery is what I'm on about. Not the output.

Not actually done yet. had to tax her and get tyres first. Hopefully will be done by end of the month.

Car seems very thirsty too. only 820 kms from tank. i would imagine it should do much better than this. A/C is off 90% the time.

Im hoping we can sort this aswel in the one go once he plugs her in.

If you do this let me know how you fare out?

Something not right there, I get at least 1000km, mainly motorway miles though.

I have a suspect boost leak I want to investigate and then I will book the map

Out of curiosity who did yours? Thats a 50% increase impressive;)

Twas the afore mentioned Mr. Power.

First run on the Dyno it showed 122bhp. Joe did say that VAG engines usually show a bit more than they're "supposed" to. So, as he says in his site, he can usually bring them up by about 30bhp.

Could've brought it up by more without having to change injectors/ turbo etc. but I was happy enough with that amount.

Power by name and by nature......:pac::pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭supersparkz

Hello again all. Just an update i finally got this done and am very impressed:).
Power delivery is much smoother, less changing gears and hard revving. Didn't realise how dead it felt before. Its like a new car.
    Went from 105 to 130.7hp:D.
    Torque from 160 to about 240 ft/lb:D:D
This upgrade is highly recommended and Joe really knows his stuff.

The camshaft timing position was slightly out and was identified in about a minute, so hopefully that will fix that problem for me too.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

P.S thanks to all who assisted in pointing me the right direction.
