So yeah, have my test tomorrow and have been getting a few refresher lessons the past few weeks, ironed out a few bad habits at first and things were going great, getting in lots of practice, feeling really confident and ready for it, instructor even told me I'd be fine :p

Had a lesson then this evening and with the nerves of the test tomorrow I didnt seem to be doing anything right, took the wrong turn off a roundabout an' all!!!! :( So frikkin' annoyed with myself!!!!! Feel like I'm a total beginner again!!

Is this normal?! :o Or a pretty good indication of what I'll be like tomorrow?! Any pre-test tips??

Try and relax. I don't get nervous before tests/exams of any kind so I was fairly calm. I don't know what most instructors are like but mine didn't dpeak apart from giving me instructions.

Try and go for a lap or two of the test routes before the test anyways - I found it helped me wake the feck up at least because my tests were always early in the morning and last minute practice never did anyone any harm.

It'll help get the nerves out of the system hopefully and if it doesn't help at all well - worst that can happen is that you fail and have to do it again.

Make sure to brush up on your rules of the road, hand signals and signs on the road - worst you can do is get them wrong because you forgot you had to know them and panic once the instructor starts asking you questions like I did in my first test

What ever you do to keep yourself half way calm during any other test - well just apply it to this test as well. I went about my driving test humming away quietly to myself because it is kinda weird sitting in dead silence despite knowing there's someone beside you.

As for taking the wrong exit - can they actually dock you marks for that assuming you were actually in the right lanes and indicated at the right points etc? I don't think they can so wouldn't worry about that too much.

If you do make a mistake or see him scribbling away just forget about it - what's done is done so just keep your mind on the road ahead. Don't even bother trying to catch a glimpse of what he has written down because to do that your gonna have to completely look away from the road and that's not good - they make sure to hold it well away from your view so your not going to be able to see it so forget about it. Then remember there's every chance you just got a Grade 1 either so once again forget about it. No trying to keep running totals or anything - doesn't help anyone.

You know yourself you'll well able to pass as your instructor said and you know yourself what you need to do - so just try your best to get the driving test done as if it was just any other lesson you were taking and hopefully all goes well :)

You'll be fine and if not, sure you'll be fine the next time instead.
    Relax.
