My pal has two decent tvs in the house and two bedroom tvs.

She is looking to get them all sorted for Sorview but wants to do it at the least expense.

Any tips where the best value for possible 4 Saorview boxes appreciated.

I called a couple of stores on her behalf and they would not offer any discount on 4 boxes must because they are selling so well and demand is high :o

Your timing isn't great, chances are that the stores figure they will run out of stock with all of the publicity, especially this week.

You have zero bargaining power. Either pay up now or look at a blank screen for a few weeks after Oct 24th and hope to pick up cheap surplus stock when the dust settles, your choice.

I think it'll be difficult to get any deals on saorview receivers until maybe the run in to Christmas.

Powercity have receivers starting at €50 - http://www.powercity.ie/index.php?par=10-23&cat=TV, DVD, Camera, Laptop,iPad&action=brandstory

Cheapest option is non approved receivers. They'll get the channels but not stuff like digital teletext or sometimes not a 7 day programme guide just now and next. Woul be grand for a bedroom tv like. Just get an official receiver for the sitting room.

Think I saw ones on done deal very cheap that hang out of a scary or hdmi socket and stay behind the telly with just a magic eye for the remote visible. Could be very handy for wall mounted screens.

Just post here before you buy cos lads selling them on fine deal would say anything for a sale

I would guess any non approved receiver should a least give you the 7 day epg as it's part of the basic DVB spec but you may not get MHEG-5 for digital text or any future interactive services. Should be OK for second, third etc. TVs.

    /slightly OT but..........
Anyone hazard a guess as to what profit these units are making, ie. these digital terrestrial receivers, even the bog standard €50 one, I reckon the profit margin must be quite generous.
