    Hi all,

I've a degree in English & History from UL and have done the i to i 120hr TEFL course. I don't feel confident enough to teach after that course though and was considering doing a CELTA course in Cork.

I'm looking at teaching on the continent - France/Spain/Italy. Is the CELTA strictly necessary, are there better cheaper options?

Also in UCC, there are different terms, would I need to complete all the terms etc. The cost seems to run into the thousands, are there any financial supports in place? I'm 26, technically a mature student if this helps.

    Thanks for the assistance.

You can do a 4 week CELTA cost in Dublin. Its relatively steep, but if you're looking at those particular European countries you're going to need something above the bog standard tefl online courses. France espcially - no-one will hire you with just a standard TEFL qualification, you'll need CELTA as a minimum.

Heard that Anna Livia in Dublin is very good. And Celta course in UCC cost around 1,570 for the four week intensive course (or 3 months part time). CELT and CELTA are the only courses worth considering really. Not sure what you mean by all the 'terms'. There is a large TEFL thread on Boards which goes in to the pros and cons of CELT and CELTA courses:
