Newgrange-what time to arrive?

I'm thinking of going to see newgrange this weekend if anyone has any tips about when to arrive?

I went a few months ago and arrived about 12 o'clock but was told the next tour avaiable was 4.30 to nowth and 5 to newgrange! Mental, wasn't going to wait around all day so left. I thought there must be tickets sold online but have now checked and turns out its first come first served.

So what time have people turned up before and how long was the wait? I've read people just say arrive as early as possible. Its open at 9. Is it worth being there for 9 and you get a tour straight away or is it still a few hours wait?

Nothing in life is certain, but the chances of getting into Newgrange fairly quickly if you arrive at 9.00am are very good. Don't disregard Knowth: in some ways it is more interesting.
