Freeview + recording in Dublin?

I have a Sky+ dish with Sky+box in the attic hard wired to 3 outlets in the house via a multi output amplifier.. I would like to add a UK freeview with recording facility as the ITV channels are not recordable on my SKY+ box.
I know I could use a separate recorder but then could not watch anything else at the same time and would have to select the ITV channel on the box before each recording.
What is the simplest most cost effective way to achieve this?

    Thanks

    Peter

I assume you are talking about Freeview from an aerial rather than FreeSAT from a dish. To get Freeview at all your existing TV aerial needs to be getting the UK analogue channels at present. After October 24th the UK FreeVIEW channels will be at full power.

Based on what you have said I would suggest a FreeVIEW recording box in the attic. This would be connected to a Triax tri-link. This would then be connected like the Sky box to the splitter and booster. On each TV you would receive 2 channels, one from the Sky box and another from the Freeview box. To record from freeview you select the correct channel on the TV, and then use the Freeview remote to enable recording.

Thank you for the advice, sounds good. I do not have an aerial at present, just a SKY dish with quad LMB. Am I best to get another dish or an aerial?
Does the triax setup have sender units like the SKY magic eyes? I have 3 TVs.

    cheers

If you do not have an aerial then I would recommend FreeSAT which works via a dish. This is a different setup.

I assume 2 cables current go from your dish to your Sky + box. You would need to run 2 more cables from the dish. There should be 2 spare connections on the dish assuming you have no more Sky boxes in the house. These would connect to a FreeSAT + box:
    http://www.freesat.co.uk/products/freesat-box-range

The freesat box would connect to the Triax tri-link.

The sky box's RF2 connects to the Tri-link and then into your existing multioutput booster. There is no need to change the booster nor anything at the TV ends. The new system will use the same remote eye. You would need to purchase additional FreeSAT remote controls for each TV so you can access all the features on the FreeSAT box.

    The tri-link manual is here:
    http://www.hypex.co.uk/files/pdf/16890/trilink.pdf

The main downside with such systems is that you will never get a high definition picture on any of the TV's as all pictures are sent as standard definition. This applies to your current Sky setup too.
