Number of Messages/Emails not resetting to zero on Samsung S3

    Hi,

    I am a new user to Android phones and have a relatively small problem in that: if I get a text message the little "envelope" icon has a number one in the corner, however when I read the message the one does not disappear.

    The same occurs with emails. Funny enough tho if I get another text message it stays at one or if I get 2 it goes to two etc. If I restart it the one number goes away..

    What am I missing?

    Had the same problem with my SG3, was driving me nuts until I stumbled across this solution, worked for me...

    Settings / Developer Options / make sure "Do Not Keep Activities" is not ticked.

    As soon as I unticked that option it worked for my Messages icon. Dunno about the email icon, I don't use it...
