I've had a car off the road since Feb and intend to tax it again from Oct. Can I submit the form by post once I have it stamped by the local Garda station or do I have to go to a motor tax office in person?

I'm fairly sure I can do it by post but can't find the answer anywhere. Don't suppose anything has changed with the online system and I can do it there?

was just about to ask the same.

And another question there...on the form they ask for a number (certificate of roadworthiness)
what nr do they mean, NCT?

and do i find the chassis no on the car or on the cars book as well? (had a look already and only find the engine no)

    Thanks :)

Just make sure you post it from a Post Office,or post box on the street. You will have it back in 3 days.

If you use the post box up at the tax office itself,,you could be waiting up to 2 weeks to get it back.

The only issue is the Motor Tax offices seem to be undermanned or something, I rang them and they said in Navan at least, over 14day backlog. I posted off a Tax form 2.5wks ago and they still havent charged it to my card..

cert of roadwortiness is just for commercials, ignore for a car.

chassis number is on the taxbook, on the car in the form of a metal plate under the bonnet, stamped in the floor by the drivers seat (probably, for a Ford anyway) and probably on top of the dash visible through the windscreen (passenger side)
