    Hello all,

I've recently started a course on Buddhism and its not working out for me. It's more office bonding day then tranquil teachings.

I really think Zen might be for me, I need to learn to let go of so much mental strain, it's really killing me. Anger, anxiety, depression..

Anyway I'm attending a beginners course Sunday in a Dojo in the city.. Let's see.

Anyone got some success stories or places in Dublin to go to share.

If we practice meditation as medicine , believing we are sick , it is very difficult for us to realize the true meaning of practice.

When you say a 'course' in Buddhism what do you mean...was it some institute/college course or did you attend a proper Buddhist Centre?? The trouble with doing 'courses' (eg. adult education night classes) is that they can only offer a superficial look at the philosophy of Buddhism. Rather than just switch to another branch of Buddhism ie Zen...have a look at this link..there may be something in it for you.

BTW...I'm assuming you live in Dublin...

Sorry for resurrecting an ancient thread, but for the benefit of anyone who stumbles upon it, here's some information about the organisation linked to above.

There is plenty of documented criticism of them online.

    Hello,
Don't know if I should be posting this here but I live in Dublin and I think I want to follow Buddhism, what should I do? should I start meditating at a Buddhist center ?

I'd suggest visiting a few of the centres and groups and getting a feel for what suits you, both in terms of the style of practice and the people involved. That way you'll get a feel for different approaches in Buddhism.

These are some centres I've attended. They all cater for beginners to varying degrees, some even offer introductory 'courses':

    Samye Dzong
    Rigpa
    Zen
    Mindfulness Ireland (Thich Nhat Hanh)
