This is the reason why DLRCC want Glenageary Road Lower to close temporarily.

It is to facilitate road restoration works.

Why do they want to have it closed for three months? It is way too long IMO.

Any other country would rip up the entire road and have it replaced good as new in no more than a week. Work 24/7, I'm sure the locals would prefer one week of noise and inconvenience rather than 3 months of it

Visitors wont know the planned diversions and will gridlock Mounttown rd. Im sure local businesses wont want this leading to the silly season, Ho Oh No!

Wicklow Co. Co completely resurfaced Church Rd. (~1km) in Greystones over the summer - took about 2 weeks working nights only, there were no traffic diversions and fairly minimal disruption. Lwr Glenageary Rd is 1.1km, can't see how it needs to be closed for 6 weeks.

Because they will boast about how ****ing great they are when they get it completed in a mere 10 weeks.

No one is going to go all the way to Castlepark Road. Adelaide Road and Albert Road are going to be chaotic.

Dublin Bus wishes to advise customers of the following diversions and timetable changes. These changes are a result of the closure of Lower Glenageary Road from the Monday 24th September 2012 for approximately 3 months (14th December).

    Route 7
    Towards Loughlinstown / Cherrywood
Normal route to Marine Rd. Dun Laoghaire, right on to Georges St., left onto York Rd., left to Mounttown and left to upper Glenageary Rd. and back on to normal route at Sallynoggin Rd.
    Towards Mountjoy Sq.
Normal route to Sallynoggin Rd., left onto Glenageary Rd., Upr. right onto Mounttown, right on to York Rd. and back on to normal route at Cumberland St.

    Route 7d
    Towards Dalkey
Normal Route to Kill Ave.,Glenagerary Rd. Upr., Castlepark Rd. right to Breffni Rd., Ulverton Rd. and back on to normal route.
    Towards Mountjoy Sq.
Normal Route to Ulverton Rd., turning right into Castlepark Rd., Castlepark Rd., joining Barnhill Rd., Glenageary Rd. Upr. Kill Ave. and back on to normal route.

    Routes 45a and 111
    To and From Dun Laoghaire
Normal route to Glenageary Rd. Lwr., onto Summerhill Rd., Glasthule Rd., Sandycove Rd. and Breffini Rd., right onto Castlepark Rd., right onto Barnhill Rd., through roundabout onto Glenageary Rd. Upr, and left onto normal route at Sallynoggin Rd.

Please note that due to route 7 towards Mountjoy Sq. bypassing Dun Laoghaire, it is proposed to operate additional 111 services.http://dublin bus.ie 111 diversion times

The 45A and 111 will be operating via Summerhill Road, Glasthule Road, Sandycove Road, Breffini Road, Castlepark Road, Barnhill Road and Glenageary Road Upper before resuming it's normal routing. While this is far from convenient for regular passengers of the aforementioned routes, will Dublin Bus allow people to board the bus along the stops of the diverted route?

Will Killiney Towers be able to cope with the extra traffic?:D;)

why is the 7 not operating with the same diversions as the 111 and the 45a

because its far to longwinded to be used on a mainstream route. why the 111 and 45a are doing that rather than echoing the 7 is the real question.

Maybe they're using the temporary closure of Glenageary Road Lower as an opportunity to test or try out lesser used bus stops such as those on Castlepark Road and Upper Glenageary Road. Then again, it's probably a wishful thinking or a hunch from yours truly!;):D

I can see alot of people getting on the wrong 7 bus outside Argos with both the inbound and outbound ones using Lwr George's St.

The inbound 7s will not be in Lower George's St - that's the point. They won't be in DL at all.

They'll come down York Road and turn left.

Northbound will not serve the Argos stop.

How was the morning and evening peak getting on for everyone today around Dun Laoghaire and Glenageary?

Did anyone have any problems with capacity or heavy traffic heading into their journey to work and going home?

I had to stand at bus stop 3071 in Cumberland Street waiting for a 7 bus for about 20 minutes this evening. As soon as I felt the strong wind going down on me; it was absolutely freezing cold standing there.

I was trying to work out what stops in Castlepark Road the 45a and 111 will stop at, but apparantly they don't. There are no bus stops in Castlepark Road.

For some reason Dublin Bus call it Tymon Park Road:confused:

    stops 6101, 6118 etc.

    not even a kiss first?

In parts of Sallynoggin that would be the norm, or so the graffiti says :-)

I will try out the 7 morning and evening peak next week and report back. (on the traffic delays).

I had the misfortune of being on the 7 today, something i just couldnt avoid today as i had to drop into Dun Laoghaire (I really should have gotten the 46a or the dart) The traffic up the york road and Georges street was unbelievable and it didnt help with the amount of wierdos on the bus. There is something about the 7 bus that attracts the ugliest most insane people you can get on public transport.

I dont understand why anybody that is fully physically able actually uses the bus and even more so now with the diversions. From where i live I would rather walk a mile either way in the driving wind and rain for an N11 Bus or the dart, which ive had to do the last 2 mornings. The 7 stops no further than a minutes walk from where i live but i would still walk for 15-20 minutes to the N11 or the Dart because it still manages to be a quicker journey and attracts less weirdos an skangers.

Another thing about the noggin hill. The road is constantly dug up for some sort of works. The whole road must have been dug up in recent years for random works in recent years and now they are relaying the whole thing

The council must be trying to use up their annual budget
