Car Rental & Driving Licence

    Hi there,

I passed my driving test in January gone, and am looking to rent a car for this weekend.

Most car rental companies seem to have a condition that I need to have had my driver's licence for 2+ years.

Does anyone know of a Car Rental Company who do not have this condition?

    Thanks in advance!...;)

Some may also have age restrictions 21+ or 25+

Your going to find it hard to get a company to rent to you.

Of the companies i've rented from in ireland Dan dooley is the most lenient to younger/inexperienced drivers.

You best bet is to ring the companies instead of using their internet sites. Talking to someone on the fone might lead to a way around the whole 2 year experience thing.

I've got off the young driver surcharge twice just by ringing and making the booking.

    Hey,

    Thanks for that guys.

As it happens, I'm actually 30....just took to the driving a bit late....
I passed the test on my first go too, so it's not that it took me forever to pass!! ;)

So it means I'll get out of the age restriction levy, but just need to get around the "length of full driver licence....

I'll try ringing to see how I get on, but I'm just worried that they'll stop the booking when they take a copy of my driver's licence...

I'd nearly start the call explaining your situation and asking is there anything that can be done for you.

I've known people to lie on the online bookings just so they can place a booking, they then hope they don't get turned away when they tell the truth at the desk when they go to collect the car.
