An airsoft gun in Ireland must not exceed one joule of energy (velocity of 328fps). if you've bought the 1911 in Ireland it should be ok (as long as it's bought from a reputable and registered retailer of course) if you bought it ouside of Ireland get it checked as soon as you can.

Is a license required for above 1 joule?

You can't license an airsoft gun above one joule, it doesn't have a serial number. If it's found it'll be siezed and destroyed and you could be done for a firearms offense.

You can't get a license for an airsoft gun, as they have no serial number. If it's over 1 Joule, it's outright illegal and the only way to change that is to bring it back below 1 Joule.

just to clarify t4rget information as it is easy for this to get out of hand and this relationship is probably the most misunderstood in the community, in this example one joule would be equal to 328fps with a .20g bb

there is a thread at the top of this section of the forum that can help http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055353665

don't like comparing one joule to 328fps due to the whole velocity vs energy thing but yeah it's probably best for explanation purposes :)
