I am not too clued in around electricity units and the differing heat outputs of plug-in heaters for the home, but am I right in this calculation?

Cost of unit of Electricity: 15.79+VAT = 17.84c per unit.

Will it cost 17.84c to run a 1kw heater for 1 hour?

Pretty much yes, plus a small bit extra to cover the standing charges. The exact amount extra depends on how many units you use per 2 months.

If you have a dual rate meter (day/night) then the cost per unit depends on the time of day, with night units being much cheaper than day units. The standing charge is higher though, so you need to be using a considerable amount at night to make it worthwhile, for example if you have storage heating.

Thanks for that, just thinking about a low wattage panel heater for a bedroom for during the winter months, maybe on a timer.

Just trying to figure out how much it would cost v putting the oil heating on for a few hours.
