    Hi everyone

A friend of mine is organising a charity cycle for the end of this month to promote Blue September which is a campaign run on behalf of Cancer Care West, The Mater Foundation and The Mercy Hospital Foundation to raise funds and awareness for men's cancer. The cycle will be taking place on Saturday 29th September from 8am through Sandymount - Dalkey - Killiney - Back to Sandymount - East Wall - Clontarf - Sutton - Howth - Malahide and back to Sandymount.

The cycle is not a race so everyone is invited to join in and take part once you feel you can complete the 90k, or close to it anyway! It will be easy paced so that everyone can enjoy it and there will be plenty of stops along the way for drinks and snacks. It's for a great cause and should be a great morning out along the beautiful Dublin coastline! The cycle has had to be restricted to 100 participants for safety reasons so places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

A link with more information and a signup for can be found below:

    Thanks!

Just read up on the link there and if you distance is correct you might need to revise your 3 - 4 hour timeframe dont forget your in high volume traffic / traffic lights throughout the day. . . For the average fit cyclist your talking on average 3.5 / 4 hours per 100k but thats generally on open country roads.

    Hey bikerbhoy!

I've mentioned this to the guys organising it and they are updating the link now, they've said there is 6 hours allocated to the cycle and they have a Garda escort for the majority of the cycle and through the villages and the roads are generally fairly quite in that area on Saturdays so it should be ok!

Ah cool with the escort as you say and 6 hour cut off you should be well covered. .
Good luck with the event .

Deadly. Just registered there, sounds good. Not sure I'll be up to the 90k but sounds pretty relaxed so I'll give it a bash!!

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Hi Jonnnie1978

Yes definitely don't worry about it, only do as much as you can! There will be plenty of stops and water breaks along the way so that you can take a rest if you need to.

See you at the cycle! :)
