Interesting to see the response from management if there is one.

Its an interesting one. Whats the bets Sh*tter gives extra resources to find out who this guy is.

Also at the top he has posted his Garda ID (blurred, of course) along with a Garda business card complete with time and date for proof.

Why, whats wrong with answering questions?
I read through it there, he/she is funny and sarcastic....it's a nice human side of the oh so secret organisation and might make people who read it rethink their attitude....maybe!
I actually think it'd be a shame if the person got into trouble.

A member speaking out in public or to the media contravenes the Garda Siochana Act, and can be disciplined for such. And for the record, I agree with you, it would be a shame to see him punished, for something that has brought a rather human side side to a usually secretive organisation.

    Really doesn't like Shatter:
    I have three questions:

What do you think of the members of the force who regularly lie in court (this happens week in week out in district courts all across the country) Are they encouraged to do so by higher ups?

I accept that these lies tend to be exaggerations and saying things that they feel to be true but are not 100% (ie didn't see something but say they did).

What's your opinion of working with the PSNI (or do you?) given that police forces past? (from my own experience the PSNI are a very young force who tend to be decent enough, but their bosses are RUC relics - explains the decisions to apologise taking down loyalist flags etc).

Finally what is the attitude in the force to the increasingly likely prospect that there will be a Sinn Féin minister for justice within the next decade?

Thanks for taking peoples questions btw, fair play.

Anyone who lies in court should be done for perjury in my opinion, no exceptions. We have to be better than that, we have to give facts as they happened nothing else, we investigate, we must strive to be impartial as investigators, we don't punish that's the courts function not ours. I have lost in court because I have very old fashioned ideas about duty and truth. I haven't worked with the PSNI but I met some in training visiting Templemore they seemed nice, I never worked close to the border so I never dealt with the RUC. A Sinn Fein Minister for Justice could not be worse than what we have now ;-)

Would be easy enough to figure out who it is, hope he doesn't get punished though

As long as he backs up anything with public facts i can't see him getting into trouble. Just needs to keep personal opinions within rule, not divulge secrets or operational techniques, and not to directly attack the organisation. Be the same as any member posting here.

It's a good idea imo, but fook me it's painful to read reddit.
