Hi, I've done a search and theyres lots of threads on Wexford to Dublin. What would it be like commuting from Dublin 5 to Wexford town for 830-5pm working hours. What are the roads like through Wicklow and Wexford? Thanks

Early mornings you can usually get from South Dublin (M50 Cherrywood) to Wexford in just under 2 hours. Returning in the evenings will usually take a bit longer. Enniscorthy can be a bit of a bottleneck at times.

From Bray to just past Wicklow Town there is good motorway/dual carriageway. Then there is relatively slow single carriage bit to Arklow, followed by another stretch of motorway to Ferns. From there its a good single carriage road to Wexford Town.

If its Wexford Town, you could avoid Enniscorthy by turning off at Gorey and using the road pass Ballycannew to Wexford.

As 'average runner' says, leaving motorway (M11) at Gorey can be better but make sure NOT TO FOLLOW "WEXFORD" SIGNS. Follow "Ballycanew" signs until you reach there then follow Wexford signs. If you follow Wexford signs on leaving motorway you will be back on the same motorway immediately.

That way you avoid Enniscorthy and, while the bridge in Wexford can be slow, it is not bad if you want to be in Wexford before 8.30.

I don't know how long it takes to get from Dublin 5 to southern end of M50 but 2 hours would do it from there without bursting your boiler.

OP, that's a long, messy commute to do five days a week. I'd agree with taking the Ballycanew route but bear in mind it's an R road with an 80kph max speed and there are regular speed traps, particularly on the approaches to Ballyedmond, on the long straight stretch at Wells House and on the approaches to Castlebridge. This part of Wexford is also very agricultural and you're likely to encounter slow moving traffic.
I don't want to sound too negative, just preparing you for the event :)
