SD card error - recovering photo help

Just returned from travelling with about 1,000 photos on my 32gb SD card. Was browsing the photos on my laptop when a message popped up saying I had to format the card. I was then unable to access any of the photos. I put the card back into the camera and it gave me an error message.

I've downloaded the free version of Recuva, but when I try select the drive (Removable disc G) I get a pop up that says I need to format. If I cancel that I get an error message that says: "G is not accessible. The Volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted."

If I ignore that and go ahead, Recuva tells me "the Path does not exist."

If I ask Recuva to scan all removable discs it says "unable to read boot sector."

Any ideas? Would be heartbreaking to lose all my photos.

Is the card reader integrated into your laptop? If so it might be worth getting hold of an external reader and using that. Proabably won't make any difference but might be worth a shot

Try TestDisk and PhotoRec. Also try another card reader

100% free. Obviously make sure to save the contents of the disk to another disk such as the hard drive. Testdisk can help rebuild partitions while photorec can help recover actual data. Both can be tried

I bought a Duracell SD card, same thing, failed after a few months and the support has been rubbish

Duracell Class 10.200x ProPhoto SDHC Memory Card - 16 GB

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0055859U8/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title

Have loads of pics of my new baby, gone

Anyone know of somewhere that might be able to recover this?

If it's a xd card you cant format it recover data off it, as its a not this you should be able to format it and recover data off it.

There might be a virus on the card, try to scan the card with your antivirus

The card is not being read as a hard drive so can't scan it

Does it show up in DiskManagement? (MyComputer->rightclick->menu->Manage)(well in Xp, later versions may differ)
I'd also recommend GetDataBack or R-Studio
