LEAVING MY JOB TO DO A FAS COURSE - ENTITLEMENTS

    Hi there,

I am asking on behalf of someone else who has a part-time job of 20hours per week. Mon-Fri (4hrs a day) and hence cannot claim for jobseekers allowance to support her income as she works more than 3 days a week.

She is seriously fed up and bored in her job and has not much experience with computers. She worked in an office for 15 years before going into retail for the last 10 years and hence computers have passed her out.

She wants to get back into an office environment but feels she lacks the computer skills necessary and wants to do an ECDL/OFFICE MANAGMENT/MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST type course with FAS on a full-time day basis.

It says the training allowances are €188 for those over 18 on a full-time day course but her worry is that she won't be entitled to this as she will be leaving her job to commence the course, can any shed any light on this situation for her please?

Thanks in advance for any help.
