I think my gearbox syncros are gone, hard to shift in gears.... not that it is impossible , but some times hard, revers gear most of times crunchy... but not sure it is clutch related, as clutch works fine.... it does vibrating, when slowly release clutch on first gear, when starting drive, but no slipping at all, holds well , while accelerating harsh, spin wheels without problem, gear linkage checked, cleaned, greased, all fine there.

    toyota avensis , 1.8 petrol., '98.

    thanks.

You'd probably pick up another car for the same money you'd spend...
Not many places actually recondition gearboxes, most places send it off to either a place on nutgrove avenue in rathfarnham south dublin or else somewhere out the n32 just out past the m50 a little bit.
Sorry very vague answers but not in that business any more so it's all by memory, which ain't that good.

when i was working in garage few years back, we use to bring gearboxes in area beside Ballyculen, or so, cant remember at the moment which place exactly, remember, that had to go pretty steep hill up, then turn left in yard. Costumers never complained. it shouldn't be more than 350 .... i was quoted from them do skyline gearbox 350 -400. years ago. ...

there is pretty detailed gearbox repair manual for toyota ... not sure i want do this, as from my previous experience wasn't good, when i was doing my own way :D

    thanks.

Sounds more like a leaky slave cylinder, so the clutch is not fully clearing, top it up and bleed, or inspect for leaks.
Cheap fix if you need a replacement slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder.

i was bleeding clutch line. there is no leaks , looks very dry.

while bleeding clutch line, there was annoying squeaky sound goin out, i spray all around with wd40, place , where clutch pushes fork, i put some grease, still squeaky. wonder, what it would be.
Drove car, looks better, not perfect though, my wife drove it, said it is better now. so might will leave gearbox reconditioning for while.
there is a lil wining noise coming when switch from 3rd to 2nd , and from 2nd to first.

tried spin wheels, clutch holds well ,make smoky wheels :)

I would say the problem is with the clutch. You will probably find a spring has come out of the clutch disc. Those old Toyotas often had that problem.
