    Hi

I bought my car second hand. It only came with one key. I was wondering where can I get a 2nd key for my car... it's really inconvenient having only the one.

    Thanks guys, p

    p.s it's a hatchback '00 Ford Focus (4 door). No central locking.

If the key doesn't have a transmitter or such most local locksmiths will be able to cut another for you for a few bob.

To my shame, I never got around to returning the spare key to last car when I traded it in. I have the spare key to my last car sitting in my current car.

There ought to be a key amnesty or something :)

As far as I know, if it has an immobiliser you'll be paying upwards of 50 euro.

The 00 focus comes with an immobiliser and will need to be coded. Go to your local ford garage to have this done. If you get a key cut and not coded it will open the car but won't start it

25 euro for the keycode for your car.

60 euro to get key cut and programmed to your car.

    thats a Zafira price

Crowd in cork told me I'd need the code before they could cut the key.

Price your local Ford dealer. Price a locksmith that has the gear for coding car keys (not a cobbler or hardware store with keycutting). They'll be in the yellow pages.

Some cars MUST be taken to the dealers for a new key coding, eg modern BMWs afaik, but a 00 feshty is most likely doable by a locksmith with the right gear.

Last time I got a key with an immobiliser chip but no remote central locking controls it was about 40euro in a locksmiths.

I must have a more trustworthy face than you* :P Cunneens were able to readback a code from my key and cut a brand new key from a computer program - IE it was an exact duplicate of the original key rather than a "mechanical copy" of the current one.

*Maybe some car manufacturers don't make the codes available to whatever company supplies the gear to the locksmiths. Mine was for a Mazda

yeah thats what he said well i rang them, said go to J&P in Douglas and get code :(

Had one worn, slightly bent Mazda key.
    2 new keys cut.
One new immobiliser chip, one transferred from original key.
    No remote central locking.
Max 70 or 80 yoyo all in. Twas 5/6 years ago.

Put on your best Montenotte accent the next time you ring em, they might be able to do it straight off :P Price might go up though haha...

Price your local Ford dealer, Crothers Security in Finglas cut one for the missus car, (Hyundai) for around 100 euro, there is a guy beside the willows pub in finglas that might be able to do it, cant remenber his name but he'll be in the yellow pages.
