A few times I have been with my Mother to the
supermarket in Ireland and people come up and look in your shopping trolley and they‟d be saying, “oh, you
shouldn‟t be eating that!” When it‟s only short term you can be amused by things like that.

Ah, the old Rowntree's Fruit Gums. They're my bane too Sonia. People can be very judgeful.

If ever an argument as to who was Ireland's greatest sports person arises again I will be pointing people towards that youtube clip :)

Watching the highlights from the 5k from 2000 I was still expecting her to catch Szabo.

Yip....still edge of seat watching, even after these years....

Great clip from "Sonia's Last Lap" which was shown on RTE back in 2008. It only covers 1995 to 2000 here but it's very well made:

Really interesting stuff about the concept of "public commitment" relating to her running the 3000m in Zurich just days after a poor performance in London. Something I think many here can learn from. A lot of people keep their goals to themselves to avoid putting themselves under pressure. Perhaps the Sonia approach here would result in better outcomes?

    great youtube clip. <snip>

On a happier note, you could post it on the UKA homepage entitled 'british athletes running backwards in the 90's'

ahhh that was a harsh snip :)

I checked it - O'Sullivan put it in her book. Not speculation, in the public domain already and O'Sullivan wasnt sued.......

She can put into her book what she likes, but if she posts it here on boards I'll snip it and ban her :p

I enjoyed the 2 part marathon talk interview with her. Down to earth too - gotta love when she's shaking the roast potatoes about and getting the dinner ready during the interview. I do disagree with her on one thing though - No Sonia, you do not make the best roast potatoes, I don't care what your kids say. My mam makes the best roast potatoes :)
