Holiday Question

    Hi there

I started a new job last month and need to take two days off for hospital tests this week. When I requested the days off, I was granted them but I was told that holidays are unpaid while on the 6 month probation period that everybody starts on. I'm wondering is this allowed? There was no mention of this clause in my contract and it seems a bit mean.

    Thanks

They can dictate your annual leave, and they can limit your A.L during training to prevent disruption. They'll have to give you paid leave for all hours you worked during probation eventually and if you leave At the end of probation they'll have to pay you in lieu...

They need to be careful though as they are meant to take your need for r&r in to account when deciding on your a.l.
