    Hi all

I have just moved to Cork. I really need to go to the dentist, as I have a tooth that needs to be filled, or maybe even taken out. problem is I can afford the dentist. I am waiting for 2 months for a medical card ( still haven;t heard back from them ) and I don't know what to do. Does anyone know of a dentist that accepts payemenet plan?

    Thanks

Op a filling will be 70 euro and an extraction around the same.
Can you borrow of a family member?

OP, Have you tried the dental hospital in CUH?
    They're prices are good http://www.ucc.ie/en/media/price_list.pdf
but you will have students working on you!

Can I just ring them and say that I want students to work on me? If I specifically asked for it? Is there a long waiting list? Sorry for all questions thanks for replies

Just be there about half 8 in the morning (monday - friday) and they'll book you in, I think I was seen at about half 9

no, you have to get on the waiting list.
there's an emergency service there and you can ask then if you can be placed on the waiting list. you may be waiting a while though, depending on what you need done.

you could get a student in 3rd, 4th, or 5th year.
students in 3rd year do the basics, and 5th year more complex. they are supervised by consultants and general dentists.

if you're nervous, then it may not be for you as the students need patients who are patient. the sessions in the hospital can be long and drawn out, but that's why it's relatively cheap.

i have just read the last one - it seemed clear to me
i have heard of something but i don't know the name - i think we're not allowed to say names because it's advertising
    is that what you mean?
i am a bit muddleheaded and if it is causing annoyance i will just leave
