I dont think the funding is there atm but that could change.. A quick call to the fas office will confirm. They dont cover the exams which are the dearest between the actual test, 2 cpc exams and the theory. Its all a money racket...

If you have the rigid you are ok but newbie truckers will have to sit 2 cpc exams and a practical cpc exam at the driving test..

I had to go through the hole lot for the coach even though I had the truck cpc and they are basically the same thing..

I was opposite, as I had to go through the whole lot for rigid, even though I had coach cpc, as I had coach licence before 10th Sep 2008.

Anyway - did you get your CPC card after passing CPC for coach.
As I understand you had your truck licence before 10th September 2009, so you acquired rights to truck CPC automatically, and therefore you didn't have a CPC card, as proof of your CPC was your truck licence issued before 10th September 2009. But did you get your CPC card after passing bus CPC?

PS - Except that it cost money, I didn't think any of those CPC test were difficult. After going through the book with questions the evening before those theory CPC tests, I got 98/100result in multiple choice, and 43/45 result in case studies. So I consider those question really easy.
Practical CPC test was also a joke, as it was just maybe 20 questions, and my instructor provided me with them and answers, so it was just a matter of remembering them.

have you got a C licence now, afaik you will have to do a theory test before you can get a permit for EC depending on how long ago you did the last test

Fas still do it, it takes weeks, is hard to get on and is well drawn out but thorough. Ridgid first though. One of my lads did it there a few weeks back.

    Waste of time and money.
Sh*te pay and conditions, too many looking for too few driving jobs.

i'm nearly certain you do unless you have done one in the last 4 years, ring the tax office or rsa to check for sure

Before you will be allowed to drive an artic on public road, you need a driving permit (provisional licence). To obtain it, you need to have a certificate of passing theory test issued less than 2 years ago.
So answering the question - you will have to pass theory test as well.
