A whole rant and no mentioned what two cars were involved?!?

Dear god tell us what was involved, don't leave us wondering which potentially tasty motors might have just been written off. :(

Edit: the original post for the people wondering what on earth this is all about now...
I'm a huge petrol head and love cars, but I hate rich pricks who think they're above the law. Especially seeing that most of the financial woes of this country were caused by rich pricks who thought they were above the law.

    Rant...........

I was watching the cannonball cars going past my apartment on Lough Atalia road this morning. At about 11 45 two cars had an accident right outside my door. One guy going way too fast ploughed into the back of another car, sent him onto the pavement, he then rebounded off that wall and shot accross the road over the other footpath and onto the grass. Thank god there was no one walking or cycling at that particular time. At least 75% of the cars I saw this morning were going at least 100km/h in the 50km/h zone. The rest were definitely also well over the speed limit. My biggest issue is that this was not on a closed off road or anything. This was a normal city street with cyclists, pedestrians and other cars mixed in with these dicks.

Where were the traffic corps? They know that it's going on, because they had main street blocked last night for them. They knew what time they were leaving this morning and they knew the route. They should also know that there was a huge chance that there would be a lot of speeding going on and also the fact that there was a big party last night in the Radisson, so being over the limit would also be a possibility for a lot of the driver's. No one is naiive enough to think that all of the driver's were tea total last night.

I rang the cops to let them know, and they said a car was already on the way. About 50-55 mins later the cops showed up, by this time the guy who caused it all had gone with his car and the other car was already loaded onto a tow truck. The cops didn't even check the car for tax. They left after about 10 mins after having a bit of a joke with the driver. To be fair this driver wasn't the one who caused the accident, but still.

The way the traffic corps go on with their checkpoints and speed traps and all the rest of it, you would think that an event such as this would get a bit more attention from them. When the Galway Rally is on in February you can see people having their cars seized for having blue parking lights for f**k sake. There's regularly a speed camera van on the Galway airport road, where there are rarely any pedestrians and it's not even a city street. Plenty more examples of easy targeting by cops.

How do the gardai expect any respect when they are so blatantly absent when things like this happen.

I drove by Lough Attalia - this little video was taken at exactly 12:20 today ... can't really see a whole lot but it didn't look like a "major crash" scene.
I actually thought they were stopped for a bit of socialising :)

If this was a rear-ending situation .. poor lovely cars ...:(

^ Irrefutable video evidence that the police DID show up, albeit in a NYPD cruiser!

It obviously took the American cops less time to get to the scene than the Gardai :pac:

Ah that's what these cars are doing. I seen them heading towards the port tunnel one morning. They start revving their engines when I stopped next to them because my bike tends to spit and produce a loud noise when stopping.

So I looked to my right and almost fell off my bike. The cars were gorgeous! So naturally I gave a little rev back. But there was a camera crew there so I got shy :o

I would have loved to see them take off from the lights spiritedly with me, but the camera crew were on front stopping them.

Just because you're doing something for charity, doesn't mean you're not capable of being an arsehole. Nor does it exempt you from all laws either.
