DOE question

Does anyone know if the DOE test requires a van to have a catalytic convertor?

Reason I ask is I have awkward hole in the exhaust just upstream of the the cat and I'm considering doing away with it altogether. Apparently gives you +10hp.

    Cheers

I would think if it's running well,it should sneak under the radar on emissions with a bit of treatment added.A lot of yokes going for DOE prior to CATs coming in.

If its diesel then emissions aren't tested.

The +10hp thing is entirely pub talk.

Ha sure thats exactly where i heard it.

So if it passes the smoke test it doesn't matter?

I hate that sort of pub talk, they never know what they're on about :mad::mad:

Diesels are a smoke test, not emissions. If you are worried about emissions source out a decent fuel treatment, make sure your egr if fitted is working and turn down the diesel pump if its mechanical.

Oooh and er, no smoke no poke :pac::pac::pac:
