On this day five years ago we lost on of the greatest motorsport drivers of all time. His win it or bin it attitude surely lost him many races and at least one championship but it also created the legend that is Colin McRae.

A legend in motorsport, but if the allegations of his behaviour that contributed to the aircrash are to be believed, he was stupid and very irresponsible to include his son and his friend in his own thrill-seeking!

He was neither licensed nor qualified to be flying the helicopter in which he and three others were tragically killed.

Yes Colin unfortunately had a tragic error of judgement on that fatal day, but let's not dwell on that and rather remember happier times (not meaning to belittle the loss of the other famlies involved);

Licence out of date, wasn't even qualified to fly that particular type of helicopter, a video found in the crash site showed him making unnecessary maneuvers to show off and thrill his passengers, and he hadn't told the parents of his sons friend that he was going to bring him in a helicopter.

Certainly changed my opinion of him.
