I finished dental nursing a year ago! Tis a tough course. You'll be in 8-5 most days and I hear they've started doing evening lectures as well this year. You're kinda thrown onto clinics and need to pick it up as you go along but if you keep up and keep your head screwed on you'll be grand!

No shortage of jobs going, certainly not for my class anyway. Everyone got work very fast! There are a few options for add-on courses with radiography, implant nursing, phlebotomy.

Pay is crap enough! You can live on it but it's not exactly a goldmine!

Nursing and hygiene spend a large portion of first year lectures together so ye'll get to know each other well enough. Hygiene is a tough one as well. Some find it quite tricky to keep on top of if they haven't done nursing beforehand.

In Ireland there isn't a lot of work for hygienists atm. Many end up working as nurses or doing a morning in one practice and an afternoon in another going to about 6 different clinics a week.
