Almera Idle Air Control Valve

Hi, I have a 2001 1.5 petrol Almera and when I put my foot on the clutch or start the car up, the revs drop to almost zero and sometimes cuts out and other times jumps back up to a normal idle speed.

From reading around online it seems to be that the idle air control valve needs to be cleaned out. Does anyone know where this is on an Almera? Do I have to remove the entire throttle body to get to it?

    Cheers.

I thought the idle air control valve was a feature of the previous 1.4 engine.

could be throttle position sensor ?

It sits just below the throttle body. Air enters the throttle body and, when the throttle is closed, is bypassed so it flows through the idle control valve. I took it off (after I found it!), cleaned it out and all was well.
