    Can anyone tell me what is the best potato available at the moment for making chips in a deep fat fryer.

    I usually usually Golden Wonders but they don't seem to be in season at the minute, so my second choice is Roosters. A lot of TV chefs (Hugh FW, Heston) swear by Maris Pipers but I tried them and found them awful.

    I can never find maris pipers and I liked them before. :(

    Anything with a high solid content, roosters, irish white, maris piper, golden wonders, they are all decent.
