Guys I wantto get a new projector - I've had one for years that is a very basic model and has served me well for years (Infocus IN1), I just want something very slightly better. The current one is only 640x480 so reading windows text etc is hard as its a bit pixelated - but its absolutely fine for watching movies etc. Now I want something a bit better, but spending as little money as possible. Id say about €400 is my absolutely max budget.

    Any recommendations?

you'll struggle to get something good on that budget, but i seen this offer which is not bad, slightly over budget though.

Has a resolution of XGA (1,024x768) which is better than what you currently have.

Thanks Ronnie, I really don't want to stretch to that, can I get anything even half decent for less? As I said my requirements are very basic. The specs of my current one are as low as they come and it has done me perfect for years. The only annoying thin is that the resulution is crappy on mine, 640x480 so its very hard to read text on. I have a 13" macbook which I use with it. What resolution do I realistically need to ge a half decent picture and be able to read text? 800x600? 1024x768?

A quick look on ebay finds these within my budget:http://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html?LH_Price=200..350%40c&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=5&_nkw=projector&_fln=1&_mPrRngCbx=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283 - would anyone be bale to tell me what the best option for me would be?

Any tips of advice appreciated :)
    Cheers
    Z

What about a second hand 720p 16:9 PJ? Could probably pick up a nice Optoma for you're budget. Check out adverts, they pop up now and again.

Not a bad idea, thanks. I was just worried about if the bulb had been used loads already but hopefully I can find one with little use. I've never heard of Optoma are they any good?

Here is a list of ones in my budget: http://www.adverts.ie/for-sale/electronics/projector/303352/price_200-450/ - any that stand out or that you would recommend as a good buy?

Got an Optoma HD65 for €300. So happy - brightness, quality and clarity are incredible - almost brand new, I got a great deal I think - thanks for the recommendation moolers
