I just bought a 'One For All' TV Sender which works fine but am having a problem with the the IR Eye for use of the remote control on the 2nd TV that just won't work, am using the Sky+ box/remote what could possibly be wrong as I have plugged in and in front range of the Sky box?

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Francie

The IR eye needs to be stuck or faced to the right part of the box. One part of the box, depending on the model, has an infra red eye that needs to see the signal. If not it won't work. Try move it to the left or right etc until it works reliably. You can also get interference from nearby "wire free" house alarms etc.

I tend to avoid them. Your broadband Wi-Fi will suffer with one of those video senders in the house. They don't confirm to standard Wi-Fi channels can cause interference on all channels

It's 5.8Ghz nothing to do with Interference well atleast it shouldn't have.

If you don't have the ir extender sensor in exactly the right place it won't work,it's a pain getting it just in the right spot for it to work.

Does the remote work without the TV sender in the path?

Is the TV Sender's receiver aimed at the TV(?) it is meant to control?

I am probably misunderstanding the post .... I find it a bit confusing TBH.

I have used such senders for many years, and the only things that upset them here is if they are moved and no longer 'aim' at the device.

I think you are. I have the eye connected to the transmitter which i have in front of the Sky box with the secondary receiver tv upstairs, the receiver has a built in remote control sender so you can change from the 2nd tv but in my case it won't let me yet I have it setup right now that is just as confusing to me.

    See http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/satindex.htm

Click on "47. How to locate sensor?"

I found out the problem apparently you can't use the remote control on the 2nd TV with a Sky+ box unless you have multiroom according to Harvey Norman:rolleyes:

Absolute nonsense. Take out the Sky card and the remote still works, so that knocks that "theory" on the head. You don't need a multiroom card.

But is it not the same as having a wired TV link to your room and having to watch whats on the main source if you haven't multiroom hence the remote not working?

    OK some basic checks.

    1) Does the remote work if you bring it to the main box? Y/N

    2) Can you see the video from the main box on the remote TV y/n

    3) If you move the remote TV into say the closest room next to the Sky box room does it work there?

    4) Have you determined where in the Sky box the IR eye is located? Is the emitter on the matching sender pointed at it?

    5) Finally can you take out a mobile phone with a camera. Turn on the camera function. How, looking through the phone, look at the end of the Sky remote via the phone screen while pressing buttons on the remote. Using the phone screen can you see the hidden light coming out the end of the remote?

If so can you then see the light coming out of the video sender at the Sky box end. When you send from the remote room, hidden light should emit from the unit beside the Sky box. Can you see this?

    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. I have the secondary/remote TV upstairs in my room does this mean am out of range walls, ceilings etc?

    4. No I am not sure about that I just have the IR eye sitting beside the box.

    5. I haven't tried this option yet.

The eye thingy needs to be IN FRONT of the box. It emmits an invisible light that acts the same as the remote. The sensor is somewhere on the front of the Sky box.

So put the unit IN FRONT of the Sky box. I would recommend a foot or so away. Then try again. You may need to move/rotate the unit.

On the TV upstairs etc, you need to point your remote at the correct side of the box.

Can you let us know what make of sender you have and where you bought it? Can you give us the exact model number written on it?

It might save us from going around in circles. Instead we can give advice on the particular model.

Have you the eye conneted to the transmitter link in the manual?
    http://www.hyperelektro.cz/files/65-navod.pdf

Is this eye stuck to the front of the Sky box?

Sorry for butting in, but I have a problem with the same model.

The video is not being transmitted to the second tv, sound is perfect, channels can be changed remotely, just have a black screen.

I've tested having the sender / receiver in same room. Used different channel, turned off wifi.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,035 ✭✭✭zg3409

Here are the recommendations from the manual:
    • Using a remote control, you cannot control the video source from
    your second TV.
    - Aim the remote control directly at the RECEIVER unit and ensure that
there are no obstacles in between.
    - Ensure that there is no other wireless device (wireless headphones,
speakers, RF control signals) interfering with the remote control.
    - Make sure that TRANSMITTER and RECEIVER are more than 16 ft (5 m)
    apart.
    - Make sure to use the remote control of the video source.
    - Reposition the IR Eye on the video source OR place the IR Eye 2 - 4 inch
(5 - 10 cm) in front of the video source.

I see you have a thread elsewhere. Please do not start multiple threads. Your problem is not the same.

    Hello Francie81,

I understand that AV sender from One For All does not operate your Sky+ box. Could you please send me an e-mail with the modelnumber of your One For All and the make and full modelnumber of your Sky+ box. I will get in touch with you and try to help.
    My e-mail: webcare@uebv.com.
    Best regards,
    Justin,

Hey Francie , try placing the ir eye on the left hand side of the sky box at the front corner and try changing channels ( preferably get someone downstairs to change the channel while you hold the ir eye in place) if it works tape or glue the eye in place . This worked for me but must admit it was a different tv sender model

Cheers guys for the posts I only got to check them now I will try what you say I mean anything is worth trying before I ask for a refund of Harvey Norman.

    Thanks

I have a nikkai video sender about 5 years old it worked great with sky + but I now have freeview and can't get it to work at all. I was wondering if I got a scart to av lead for the transmitter same that's on the receiver and plugged it into the freeview box would it work?

Why does it not work. Do you not have the correct lead for the Freeview box? If the sender has Scart and the Freeview box has scart then you should need no new leads.

Is the feeeview box connected to the TV using HDMI? Sometimes taking out the HDMI lead from the TV beside it can help.

Which exact model of box do you have? Which model of video sender?

This advice just helped me big time. I had the unit on top of my sky box. Moved it down and faced it toward the sky box. Worked a dream.
