Using an FSA crank and Sram Gxp bb, which I have only got 6months use from.
Will Shimano Ultegra be compatible, I have been given various answers?

also, would like to hear some suggestions of reasonably priced replacement BB.....

Compatibility would need to be checked re bottom bracket shell widths.
68mm english threaded/70mm italian threaded,if you click on the description box in the above link it gives some info on the various BBs.

What model fsa crank is it. Some of them will only work with specific bottom brackets.

hazard a guess it will be compatable and the reason you only got 6 months from your other b/b is more than likely your b/b shell is not properly faced.take it to a good bike shop get them to face the shell fit a dura ace b'b and enjoy your cycling.

    FSA gossamer.
I believe the ultegra one above is same length as current one, so no reason why that would not work?? Thanks for help.

Ultegra bottom bracket is €17.90 + €10 post from bike24, or about €36 from Wiggle.
I cant see how your FSA crank would work with the GXP bottom bracket, unless the non drive side has an alteration of some sort (22mm to 24mm)
If you are looking for a cheap option then a Tiagra BB can be got for around a tenner.

The ultegra bb will work fine with the Gossamer crankset as it uses the same system as shimano in that you pre tension the assembly using the central nut but it is the pinch bolts on the side that actually hold the crank on.
On some other FSA cranksets there are no pinch bolts so the central nut both holds the crank on and maintains tension. The tolerances are much smaller as you have very little room for adjustment. Fsa have made the widths (distance between bb faces when fitted) of their bottom brackets different so that they are not compatible between some different series.you are forced to pay ridiculous prices for their own models.

Thanks Clog, however the FSA goss I have doesn't have a Central nut, only two pinch bolts. You reckon Shimano bb ok with this type, or safer to go with SRAM bb??
