Trying to track down an arcade game

Hi guys, spent a bit of time reading through the forum this morning, seems like a nice place so i'm hoping I can find an answer to my problem!

Basically I'm trying to find the name of an arcade game I used to play about 20 years ago when I was a nipper.

The game was a platform type game but not a mario style game, more of a contra 3 type game if that makes sense. It was single player and you basically just walked from the left hand side of the screen through a level killing the bad guys with a sword (i think). The background/setting for the game seemed to be a post apocalyptic junk yard. The only thing I can remember for certain was that the boss at the end of the first level was an enemy who would roll from one side of the screen to the other, to kill him you'd have to jump him then hit him if you got over him.

My complete and utter apologies for the sheer vagueness of my description, it wasn't until I wrote it down, i realised how vague it sounded! I just remember never being able to get past the first boss - ever! Would love to kick his ass with the help of infinite credits and a save button!

Anyways, thanks in advance for anything anyone comes up with!

Did it take place on one single plane and if was there platforming? Or was it more like Final Fight/Streets of rage on multiple planes.

Current Guesses are King of Dragons, the capcom Dungeon and Dragons games, Magic Sword and Black Tiger.

It was definitley on a single plane and the platforming was only one jump high, if you get me, and you would always be able to see the ground level.

I seem to recall it might've had something like final battle or something in the title.

First level boss does sound a bit like Rastan alright. Loved that game.

No Ninjas lol and sadly not ESWAT. I think I might have to give up and resign to the fact I'll never find or beat this game :'-(

Before u got to the Boss at the end of each level - did u have to kick some of his underlings?

I think I know the name, its on teh tip of my tongue - ah I have, could it be Renegade? I have it for the Spectrum.

I love these threads.

It's like CSI for arcade games except instead of bad science montages you've arcade veterans.

ashleary! More clues! Was the sword swung overheard or just trust forward when attacking! Did the enemies shoot guns/what were they armed with? Were there special attacks or smart bombs or health power ups or anything you can remember?

Morning guys! Cheers for all the replies/screen shots. Sadly none of them match of to my game. To the other questions, it wasnt wonderboy game nor did it have a special attack (golden axe/ S.O.R style).

I appreciate everyones help
