Automatic window to Manual-Passat

    Hi lads,

Bit of trouble with the electrics in my passat, windows central locking and fuel cap all out of action. Have changed the switch's and the loom, have had three different lads look at it and they said you would have to do a lot of stripping down before you probably find the problem. Passat is only 99 so not going spending a fortune to have it stripped down.

Is it possible to put in manual windows instead of the electrical? Back windows already manual so hoping I'd be able to just purchase winders and panels maybe? Not sure if it will work though. Any help appreciated.

It is possible, but I can't imagine it'd be any cheaper than fixing the problem. Have you tried a decent auto electrician?

By the way, is the wiring in the drivers door jamb intact?

I cant see you having to go any deeper than the control units for windows and the wiring to/from that to sort it.

It should be a simple job with breaker parts to change to manual windows although it would still probably be cheaper to get someone who knows what they are doing to fix the electrics
