    How come the NHL don't make the players wear a full helmet with the cage on it. Would it not save them from the puck hitting there nose etc and breaking it.

    It's a choice more than anything else. There was a huge uproar when they forced players to have to wear helmets. They actually grandfathered the rule in so existing players didn't have to wear a helmet. I still remember Doug Wilson and Craig MacTavish playing without helmets.

    Pity they didn't do the same with hurling. Some players just weren't the same once forced to wear helmets.
