    It's a 280CE, I don't know where the W came from!

Perhaps a typo? The W is beside the E, easy enough to accidentally hit both especially if you're holding down the shift key with your little finger at the same time :D

There seems to be one particular champagne coloured one coming up in searches, but I've never heard of a 280CEW...

:D:DIt is indeed the same as the W123 280 CE., but it has a sof-top that is removable. I dont know if this is how it left the factory, or did someone remove the orignal steel roof, and replaced it with a removable soft top. I hope to have it here next week, when I will post some photos of it, if I can down load them. Thank you all for your comments, keep them coming.

A Crayford 280CE St Tropez

A brave purchase Matt, wonder who the coachbuilder was, Crayford ? They did a lot of UK conversions, would have cost a few bob back in the day. U might get good money for it in Germany ? :)

The factory never made a convertible W123 and I have seen 2 Crayford versions first hand, definitely NOT their finest moment.

Who knows Capri, it MIGHT make good money here also, at least it will be something different to have, and I hope enjoy.

Never know, there somebody out there for everything - especially with our 'new Irish' who have other channels available to them and a different mindset to the 'tax is too much' Irish mindset. They ENJOY their cars.
Maybe we'll be calling you '123MATT!' in time :p

I saw a German one a few years back and it was a top class job done in Germany. It had a beautiful hood and tonneau cover which was done in such a way that it looked as though it was meant to be there!
As always, there is a catch and because of the way the W123 is made, in spite of the necessary strengthening, if these convertibles got really wet then they rusted badly in the worst possible places, usually due to badly fitted tonneau covers. Really good examples of this interesting car should go for between €10k and €15k. Bad examples are a liability!!

Thanks for your comments 124, I haave not seen the car yet, but it looks good. I should have it next week-end, then I will clear it and N.C.T. it, and take it from there. I thought about half of your valuation would be a good price, but then again, its hard to know what an unusual car like this is worth, I suppose as usual, its worth what someone is prepared to pay for it!!
