    Hi All,

I'm hoping someone here can give me a little advice on unpaid internships. I've just come back to Ireland after studying in France for 2 years. I'm looking for Marketing/ Sales jobs and I'm fluent in French.

I've just gotten my first call for an interview since I got home. Sound like a good company/ job but... its unpaid. Like completely no transport/food costs. Seriously I know that the economy in an awful state but I feel a little insulted by someone who won't even give 50€ a week to me.

Does anyone know what the legalities are surrounding unpaid internships.
    It says 6 months, 40hrs p/wk.

    Thanks for your help.

Ps. Could I sign on the dole while during such an internship?

You could sign on and get the vw1 form. This allows you to get the dole and the work would be classed as volantary work. But it needs to be signed off by the company.

Just to add you have something that employers want that is second language.

My advice prepare your CV make sure its in very presentable.

Then apply to ebay paypal IBM apple this are the big multinationals that need those that speaks a second language.

Door to door sales job is below you, this might sound harsh but I'm not bothered but its those with no/less qualification that go for door to door sales. I'll say the same for b2b sales as well.

Take my advice look for te big multinationals, pay your cad right and you wil be employed in less than 6omnths.

It might be still sales roles but you will be working over the phone sitting in the office.

And add xerox to that list as well.

Thanks for the advice. I'm targeting MNCs like you suggest. However they don't have that many Sales/Marketing language jobs. They seems to be mostly customer sales support jobs, which i'd hate. I am keeping my eye out.

Also jobs in Ireland seem to be looking for a few years experience for every job i'm interested in (except google etc). Not sure how long before I leave Ireland again.

Yea its true that some might not have the job you want but there's also avenues for promotion where you can get promoted to the job you desire.

Also as you know its a tough economic climate so its not easy getting a job, keep trying and you'll find something.
