    Moving to Television.

I haven't seen the new series yet but Shameless is definitely a show past its prime and by now so far removed from its original premise that it really can't go on much longer. David Therlfall is now the only core member of the original cast left (Frank the only Gallagher left) and in one episode in the first half of this season didn't appear outside of the opening titles. I think it will finally call it a day when Therlfall leaves but I would expect at least one more season.

I thought it had its day after series 4.

Huge Shameless fan and I too feel it has run its course.

I thought the first episode of the new series was rubbish, I didn't find it funny and it was an effort to watch it till the end. It used to be one of my favourite shows but the new series will be a let down if its anything like the first episode!

I still like it but it isn't what it was for sure. Don't get the original cast argument though, surely it would be boring 10 series of same family on a show like this? Part of the fun is the new characters...

I said the same thing to my OH last night. Watched it for twenty minutes before realising how truly boring it was.
TBH I think that series went off the boil about 5 seasons ago, but it was still watchable until series 7

I agree. Was a fan of this from the pilot episode but have tuned out the last few seasons. With most of the Gallagher clan gone & Paddy it's just lost it's appeal.

Series 1 and 2 were nothing short of genius, few seasons after that were decent but the current series which is on channel 4 at the moment is muck, episode 2 was on last night and as someone else said it really was a struggle to watch till the end, you are just constantly waiting for a glimpse of the old shameless but it never happens
