I'm sure this probably a stupid question, but if someone is on Unemployment/Jobseekers Benefit/Assistance/Allowance {the dole basically}...are they governed by PRSI Class A?

    :o

Has anyone got an idea, the government site mentions people on jobseekers benefit are class A, but nothing about jobseekers assistance. Would I be correct in assuming they're the same class?

Social Welfare benefits are claimed on the basis of PRSI paid contributions .

Allowances / Assistances/ non contributory are claimed on the basis of means-tested situations .

When a certain time period elapses , note that paid contributions are not beneficial to claimants of benefits ( other than retirement benefits )

Cheers, but I'm not sure if its answering my question. I have a form here to fill out, & one of the questions is what PRSI Class I'm governed by
