Spending money for 15 days in Western USA

Folks. I am thinking of booking a 15 day trip to the states for me and my partner at the end of the year. I have priced flights and accomodation and it is not as expensive as I expected (which is why I am considering the trip) but I am wondering how much spending money I would need.

    The plan is

    5 nights in San Francisco (29th Dec 2012 - 3rd Jan 2013)

    5 nights in Las Vegas (3rd Jan 2013 - 8th Jan 2013)

    5 nights in Los Angeles (8th January 2013- 13th Jan 2013)

We would be hoping to do a couple of cable car trips, trip to Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge and some New Years Eve celebrations in San Francisco.

In Las Vegas (apart from the shows and casinos etc) we want to do a day trip to the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon.

In LA we definately want to do a trip to Universal Studios.

Would €2000 be enough for both of us to do these trips and have money for food, drink, cost of transport and a few souvaniers?

    Thanks in advance.

When you say €2000 do you mean each? Also does the cost of activities like Alcatraz come out of that figure?

I've been to all 3 cities you mentioned while roadtripping and I was on a very tight budget, so feel free to hit me with questions. I hope I can help.

My first bit of advice would be make a rough list of what you want to do in each city and price how much each thing costs. You'll be surprised how it can all add up but it will help you gauge how expensive the trip is and how much you got left budget wise to spend on food and drinks etc.
