As the title says, I lost my job, not from being stupid or anything but from not permitting long-standing employees in a company speak down to me. There's a long story attached to it anyway. I've a degree, and the qualification means that in order for it to be useful I have to do unpaid work experience for around a year…

As the title says, I lost my job, not from being stupid or anything but from not permitting long-standing employees in a company speak down to me.

There's a long story attached to it anyway.

I've a degree, and the qualification means that in order for it to be useful I have to do unpaid work experience for around a year somewhere. I can't do that because I can't afford it. I've not lived at home in over 6 years and it is not an option to return. Rent is due in a week and a half and since I won't be paid my full pay this month I've no idea what I'll do.

I went to the Welfare office and they were really nice to me. The job I was in is saying I will not have any form of p45 until the end of October and they won't give me any form of documentation to say I've been fired. So the Welfare won't pay me unless they have some form of written confirmation that I no longer am employed there and that it was their decision.

So I'm stuck.

Sorry to hear you lost your job, just on the P45 thing, your employer can't withold it. Scroll to the end on this page for details on how the Revenue commissioners will get it for you if your employer refuses.

P45 can't be issued until last paycheck has been put through. So if he is paid monthly, then its perfectly normal for it not to be available till the next month. Its nothing personal.

I would suggest asking in the State Benefits forums as to how to bide over till your Dole goes through. I believe you can get emergency subsistence from the HSE in the meantime.
