DTT Signal Interference From Satellite STB

As the title says, my Foxsat HDR seems to be causing interference to my DTT signal, even through the aerial and HDR are not connected in any way. When the HDR is on in the living room, it stops some of the DTT channels from appearing on my kitchen TV, but when put into standby, they all come in fine. What could be causing this? It's very strange.

Are the coaxial cables close to each other in Attic or lying over each other in Attic was there good quality isolated coaxial cable used in the wiring of these systems.

The satellite cables for the HDR are coming down the same pipe that the aerial cable is coming in from. The installer I use is very reputable and only uses good quality materials as we have had many a discussion when he has been doing work at my house over aerial/DTT/satellite topics. I'm sure he would have known interference was a possibility when he was installing the stuff in the first place.

Strange that it would stop some but not all of the channels. Just to be clear, are you talking about Saorview channels or Freeview channels? All Soarview channels share the same multiplex - i.e. on the same UHF frequency so I would have expected all to be affected equally.

No, this is about Freeview channels. The Saorview channels are not affected.

Breakup generally will stop if the signal arriving is very strong and a strong DTT signal will ride over the interference.

If you are in ROI receiving Freeview wait until end of October and Freeview may increase in strength and the problem may dissapear.

If you are in NI you would need to know the current level of actual signal received to decide if it will rise enough to help.

If it still happens in November reply here and I can suggest some other ways to stop interference.

I have the same issue although it's with a Technomate TM6800HD satellite receiver. It affects my BBC 1 / 2 digital but not the other channels. I'm hoping this issue will clear up from October 10th onwards then...

I need help as well. I have a Comag decoder receiving free to air British channels. Never had a problem until I purchased a new LCD TV. Now my Satellite images have a ghost of either RTE1 or RTE2 on them. The decoder is approx 8 years old. I replaced the LNB (cheap one) a couple of years ago. My LCD TV does not have VGA input so using a scart lead.
Would a HDMI enabled ST Box fix my problem?
I will try to fix and post my results - any help appreciated though.

That sounds like a "leak" inside the SCART cable. The RTÉ images are coming from the TV's own tuner sending a signal out to the SCART which "leaks" into the cable coming from the sat box. Try a different SCART cable.

Or disable pin 19 (video out) on the scart cable. You could go through a lot of them before you find a properly shielded one that won't need this doing.
