ok - the Kia should have a 7 year warranty, is being sold by a main dealer and overall is probably a better car than anything GM would produce.

The other is being sold by a non main dealer and is a UK car therefore will have some stigma towards it when you go to shift it.

That is a bog standard model Astra, interior looks very bare. The Ceed is the top spec model, original warranty is expired as it is 7 years or 150k km, which ever comes first. Find out what the garage is covering under their warranty though as at that mileage you could be approaching items like the DMF and DPF coming to the end of their natural life.

Things being equal I'd rather the Kia for the spec alone.

    Thanks Bazz,

The Ceed is being given with a 3 month garage warrenty and they have serviced it since they bought it s should know what they are dealing with.

Is there any way to know from driving the car if the DMF or DPF are on the way out?

Would that be something the the garage would cover under warrenty?

Check what's covered under the warranty, they may not cover a DMF or DPF as they class them as wear and tear items.

i have been doing some checking and dont think the kia has a dmf. can anyone confirm this?

I think it's only the 2.0 engines that have dmf I may be wrong.

The 1.6 crdi isn't known for dpf issues

Thanks for that Colm. Thats exactly what the internet seems to be saying about both of those.

Is there any other hidden things to look for of should this be a pretty straight forward car

only seem to find good reviews about it which i suppose is a good thing:D

I heard the i30 has an appetite for droplinks. I'd assume the ceed is similar. Haven't had first hand experience of it though. I think these would be covered on the Kia warranty if it's still valid.
