Do you still need to produce insurance certs for over counter motor tax applications?

Never needed the cert i believe you just fill in the cert details on the tax form.

You do not need the cert itself.
But you do need all the details from it.
Name of insurer (not the broker), policy number, expiry date etc. see your renewal notice.
Phone your insurer and they should be able to call out the details to you and sent you out a replacement cert.

I recently paid my motor tax and the insurance policy/expiry date seemed to be a mandatory field... dont know what would have happened if I wouldnt have filled it up but the field is there (form rf100a I believe)

You just need to policy number, you can find it in your insurance disc

If you dont fill the form in fully they will hand it back to you and not give you the disc till its fully completed, (happened to me, forgot to put in the policy number).

I would not even bother with it.

I renewed tax again for 3 cars 2 days ago and I used random number for policy number. I just could not be arsed to look for papers etc.

Works for me for years now.
